From its inception in Harvard Square, Border Cafe has slowly grown to only three local and two out-of-state locations. Other in-state locations include Burlington and Saugus. Food is based on legendary Jose Creole's food from his tiny restaurant in Louisiana during the Great Depression.
Enjoy a fun time, great food, large portions and still keep from breaking your piggy bank!
Ambience: Casual
Cuisine: Mexican
The Bad:
Very long waits if you're with a larger group for dinner on the weekends - popular!
The Good:
A modern fusion of Mexican standards, Cajun, Creole and Soul foods
Larger portions guarantee satisfaction
Plenty of parking (I visited the new Saugus location on Route 1, north)
Ambience feels like authentic Mexican-southwest USA
Price Range: $9 - $18 for entrees, a great value considering their seafood dishes are the priciest dishes
Date Rate: A definite fun, not-out-to-impress, first or more casual second date!
Overall Value: 5 Stars!
