Sugar Cane Restaurant ****

Last night I had dinner at SugarCane and was a pleseantly surprised. Calming atmosphere, professional wait staff and good food, yet very affordable. Great food, great prices. I enjoyed my dinner and everything else about SugarCane AND they deliver!

Interestingly, my parents' first apartment when migrating to this country was right above the restaurant during the 1960's. And, the restaurant was once the spot of a the barber shop, The Five L's, where I got my haircuts until I was 18! Ahh - memories.

Ambience: Romantic

Cuisine: Chinese, Vietnamese

The Bad:
I was with four others at a table for eight, but even after being seated, they never removed the extra plates and menus from the unused spots.
The Waiter never asked if everything was good midmeal. It was good, but it shouldn't be taken for granted.

The Good:
Ambience, with it's dim lighting, pastel colored walls and just enough Asian decor without being over done felt more Asian than most Asian restaurants
Wait staff was quick and attentive
A slightly healthier menu than most Asian restaurants
Very clean
Adequate parking, although not easily accessible from Main Street if you're coming from the west (Peabody Square)

Price: Entrees under $14

Date rate: A definite first date that won't bust the piggy bank with a romantic surrounding sure to get you that second date.
